The side view Ranchu were also of very high quality and many were of jumbo proportions. There were the usual red, red/white, black as well as calico-type Ranchu which battled it out for the top prizes. In the end, it was a gorgeous red fish which had perfect curve and beautiful scalation and colour which stole the judges’ hearts.

This year, the trophies were kindly sponsored by DreamFish Inc and there was a special prize donated by esteemed judge Mr. Geert Coppens which was a designer crystal trophy and this was awarded to the competitor with the topview Ranchu deemed as having the most potential. The winner this year was a beautiful red Tosai which swam very gracefully and should be a force to be reckoned with in next year’s competition!

Other generous sponsors included Dreamfish Inc, Samgoldfish and Living Water Aquaria who were also there to provide encouragement and support.
