As for sideview fish, only 2 categories were recognized

The topview fish were judged according to Japanese standards and this year the method used followed the Japanese style of judging.
This highly efficient process was carried out in an effortless manner by the 3 experienced judges and was completed very quickly.
The winning ranchu were displayed prominently next to each other to allow for ease of comparison. This year the Best In Show was a
red and white Oya ranchu owned and groomed by a member of Vanda Ranchu Club! There were also many ranchu which continued their prize-winning
streak form last year’s show and this spoke well of the quality of the fish as well as the grooming skills of their owners. Notably,
the Tosai winner last year became the Nisai champion this time round…who knows, maybe it will complete a hat-trick by clinching the
Oya prize next year!
