19 OCTOBER 2006 RANCHU FRIENDSHIP WITH BELGIUM, ENGLAND AND SINGAPORE
Past Activities
This was certainly one of the most fruitful Ranchu visits I have ever made! The European Ranchu Fanciers were very kind and friendly
and they were deeply passionate about their Ranchu aspirations. I could sense the enormous amount of time, effort and money invested
in developing the Art of Ranchu Keeping and Breeding in Europe. Every discussion and exchange with the European Ranchu Breeders, in
the pursuit of knowledge, I gained much in just a few glorious days
It was indeed a great honor and pleasure that I was treated
as an important visitor during my course of stay. The special home-cooked meals prepared by the Breeders' wives had definitely
left me with great memories (and weight!) and I was impressed with the wonderful way I was welcomed by every Breeder to their house
and pond visits. The warmth and sincerity of their willingness to share was most appreciated.
Although my Belgium and England visiting
trips were very short and quick, I am very glad that I made the right decision to embark on the distant journey. In this tiring but
fulfilling trip, I have learnt much through the sharing of valuable experiences from every Breeder. I could see the deep devotion,
immense passion, patience and substantial financial investment in pursuing their Ranchu dreams and aspirations. And I believe this
is something that many of us have yet to learn from our Belgian and English friends.
Lastly but not least, I would like to express
my sincere gratitude to all my Belgian and English friends, especially to Mr. Geert Coppens, for the great hospitality and valuable
time spent with me during my stays in Europe.

Visit Mr Geert Coppens's Fish House :
I was deeply impressed with the specially made fish house for the Ranchu. There are 2 fish
houses to cater one f or Tosai and the other one for Nisai and Oya. I was very busy admiring and taking photographs of the beautiful
Ranchu. I must admit Geert has attained his own Bloodline that is comparable with the best Japanese Quality Bloodlines, having had
the chance to visit some prominent Japanese Breeders in my previous trips.
